Stacy Price-Darkis, Owner
Stacy brings 25 plus years as a specialty clinical medical assistant to her Pilates teaching. Studying the classical style of Joseph H. Pilates as taught by Power Pilates of New York, she learned how to help others discover their own body awareness using muscle and skeletal control to effect beneficial movement. Stacy has been taught by some notable people in the Pilates world like, Kathy VanPatten, Nora Gomez-Dears, and Elder Lolita SanMiguel.
“I have learned to listen to the body as it moves through the session. Come with an open mind leaving your inhibitions and doubts outside the door of Studio 59. I will work only to your wellness and ask of your body to move in ways your brain/mind has convinced you is impossible. You own a miraculous tool it is up to you to maintain it.”
I appreciate each individuals unique needs and provide private Pilates instruction as well as group classes. I have learned that the one on one instruction is pivotal in ones ability to join a class setting. Without it folks may feel lost in a group and may also harm themselves not having yet learned the many facets of a Pilates workout.
Born and raised in Maine I very much enjoy our beautiful state and all it has to offer. I have three Yorkshire Terrier dogs and will from time to time bring them to the studio with me. They believe it is their job to greet you upon arrival and then come out of their beds at the end of class to let you know how well you did by letting you have the honor of petting them again! They love being in studio. Meeting people is a joy for me and learning about their individual needs both physically and emotionally, helping to guide them to their desired outcome and hopefully bring them to a whole new body. I have done special continuing education in the area’s of post-rehabilitation, fitness & nutrition (outside of Pilates training), and training with Marisa Baranski who created the MS (multiple sclerosis), and other Neurological Conditions licensing program. All of these experiences have molded me into the Pilates teacher I am today.

Pamela Clark, Instructor
Pamela was introduced to the Pilates Method in 2003. She quickly recognized how the practice developed her physical confidence and mental focus. Noticing positive changes in her body after those first sessions, she understood that Pilates for her would be a lifelong practice and an integral part of wellness and well-being.
Committed to the method as developed by Joseph Pilates, she enrolled in the teacher training program with Power Pilates, New York and completed her 600 hour comprehensive training.
Always striving to learn more and share deeper work with clients, her education continued through workshops with recognized teachers like Lolita San Miguel, Bob Liekens, Kathy VanPatten, Nora Gomez Dears and others.
Pamela has been teaching for 10 years in Portland, Maine. She taught at Pilates Baxter Place until the studio closed in 2016 and afterward continued as a personal Pilates trainer. She is excited to be back in a studio setting teaching at Studio 59 Pilates.
I believe every Pilates session, whether a class or private, is the same process. The connection to your breath during that first exercise helps find your center. Concentration on the precision of each movement develops control of mind and body and soul. Through this practice, Pilates, The Art of Contrology, is definitely a return to life.
PAMELA’S CERTIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

• Intermediate Mat Certification Power Pilates 2005
• Beginner Mat Certification Power Pilates, NY 2005
These little Yorkshire terrier dogs love to greet folks as they come and go from the studio. They will show you how cute they can be when you throw a ball or pig toy for them. When it’s time for class to begin the dogs are given the command “go to bed” and they do. During class folks are asked not to call to them. When class is over I give the command “and we’re done” and the girls will then come out of bed to see how well you did! They come in from time to time but not every day. The girls get pooped out and need to rest at home!
Yorkies have hair more like ours and are considered non-allergenic pets.
